Welcome to Diabetes Eswatini Website!
Louder than the silent killer!
Our Mission is to prevent and cure diabetes through advocacy, lobbying, psychosocial support education and training in healthy lifestyle
Diabetes Eswatini is an organisation whose aim is to improve the social lifestyle and livelihood of people living with diabetes and hypertension in the Kingdom of Eswatini, through community outreach in the different regions and sub-regions of the country. The state of diabetes health provision within the country has been plagued with a lack of readily available and accessible services and long queues as a result of these services being centralized to the main hospitals.
As such, people living with diabetes within the country are not able to obtain the health services they require, which has led to diabetes being a silent killer, with a total of 8 people being amputated on a monthly basis, and about 80% of deaths due to diabetes related complications including renal failure and cardiac issues.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with diabetes and pre-diabetes through education and support. We provide resources on diet, exercise, and medication management, enabling affected individuals to lead healthier lives across the kingdom.
We aim to advance diabetes research in Eswatini by collaborating with institutions and universities. Our focus is on understanding the unique challenges faced by our communities to develop tailored interventions and improve treatment options.
We believe in empowering individuals affected by diabetes to share their stories. By amplifying their voices, we raise awareness about their experiences and advocate for policies that benefit the diabetes community, fostering understanding and compassion.
Diabetes is a critical health concern in Eswatini, and urgency is needed. Through awareness campaigns and outreach programs, we inform the public and encourage proactive measures to prioritize diabetes prevention and management.
To effectively address diabetes, we focus on strengthening our association. By enhancing infrastructure, expanding partnerships, and investing in community engagement, we aim to create a sustainable foundation to improve lives and combat diabetes in Eswatini.
